Player achievement database

Most other sports celebrate the acheivements of their participants. What they acheive is recorded as Wins, Statistcs and Prizemoney.

In Lawn Bowls it is frowned upon to let others know of your acheivements with such terms used like 'dont post your resume online,' stop big noting yourself etc etc. These comments come mostly from those that will never win anything themselves but they do stop a lot of people telling anyone what they have won.

What we need in lawn bowls is a Players stats site which lists players acheivements in regards to Club Titles, Group Titles, State Titles, Rep games etc

This can be managed by the players themselves. I like to show an interest in everyones acheivements. For some people a couple of lines may cover their acheivements but many other players would have pages of acheivements. It appears to me that everthing to do with Lawn Bowls at State level shrouded by secrecy. You have to wait to the day after the event to know it was even on unless you are directly involved or know someone playing. The forum has made the world a little smaller place however it is still a big issue in Victoria where everything is run secretly.

Something simple like the following:
Players Name:
DOB:
Current Club:

Club Titles(would include Club and team mates):

Group Titles:

Tournament wins:

State Titles:

Representive games:

I would like to look up a guy like Barrie Close and actually see what he has acheived in his bowls career.

Some of the more brainer PC literate people could easily set up a site where someone could register and maintain their own profile.

Only an idea

I recently did my clubs statistics, which included

Pennant games played, Winning Streaks, home winning streaks and away winning streaks, amoungst other things.

Showed some interesting results for the past 2 and 2/3 seasons.

I know my old cricket club kept games played, runs, wickets and catches and updated the figures on the board every month.

Its a shame that clubs dont keep better stats and promote them. We recently lost a 60 year player and no one knows how many games he played or his achievments and I think that is a loss to the club

I like the idea Knackers. It'd be good to see this forum get something up & running if possible. Maybe michaelw or Sinbad could set something up?

It is possible to do this using Sporting Pulse.

Vic Hockey for example require every player in every side to be entered each week. In essence sporting pulse becomes your team sheet. Every player is kept in an online database that includes information about games played, goals scored, clearances, cards, etc...

Applying this to bowls, you would be able to keep track of every player, shots up, games won etc. Each club would be required to enter team sheets onto Sporting Pulse as well as game scores.

If club events, group events, and State events were also recorded using the system, then the results of these games would also be linked to the player as well.

The system is simple, it is just a matter of mandating that all clubs must enter the information into the system by Monday afternoon.

The advantage would be that I could click on my name and get results from all of the Group events, Club, Pennant etc, all in one place, and only one click away.

regards,

Daniel
